Practical advice drawn from Kingdoms 2.21's player documentation.
Your first visit
Choose Play from the Kingdoms entrance. Your BBS account identifies you; Kingdoms then asks for your character details. Keep any game password separate from your BBS password. Read each prompt before confirming a choice.
A sensible first session
Start with F: Fight a Monster and choose a low monster level. Check your health, visit H: Healers when needed, and use V: Visit Your Vault to bank spare gold. Carry enough for your next purchase, rather than your entire fortune.
Training and equipment
D: Development & Games contains training. Strength helps you land blows; agility helps you evade them. Intelligence affects the hit points gained when leveling, so do not neglect it early. O: Outfitters supplies equipment. L: Levels shows the game's advancement table.
Protect your castle
Your castle has ten rooms. Room ten holds your vault; E: Edit Your Castle lets you buy defenders for rooms one through nine. Banked gold is safer than carried gold, but a successful castle raid can still reach the vault. Local raids can also transfer the target's debts.
Daily play
Some actions have daily limits. Nightly maintenance restores daily allowances and performs the game's housekeeping. Leaving and reconnecting does not grant a new day. S: Scores displays the current in-game rankings. The website uses the latest exported snapshot and shows its timestamp.
Player combat and protection
P: Proving Grounds challenges another player; R: Raid a Castle attacks a defended vault. New level-one and level-two characters have limited beginner protection, not permanent immunity. Be considerate of new players. The realm is currently standalone; a Kingdoms InterBBS network is not connected.
Finishing a session
Use Q: Quit inside Kingdoms to return to the entrance menu. Returning normally also refreshes the published scoreboard. Choose Q again to return to the BBS. Your character remains in the persistent realm.
Weekly Realm Challenge
The community challenge measures positive score growth between published snapshots within each Pacific Monday-to-Monday week. The first snapshot establishes the baseline; new ranked names start at zero. Ties share a place. Results are recognition on the website, with no automatic gold or stat rewards. Launch week begins with our first published snapshot. No automatic game resets are scheduled.
